GERZER Rupert
R. Gerzer is Head of the Institute of Aerospace Medicine at DLR and Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Aachen (both assignments since 1992). He serves in various committees and is currently President of the German Society of Aerospace Medicine. He had his clinical assignment at the University of Munich (1983 - 1992), where he held a Heisenberg Professorship on Clinical Pharmacology from 1987 to 1992 and was the founding Head of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at Medizinische Klinik Innenstadt in 1992. He received his scientific training at the Division of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee (1981-1983) and at the Division of Pharmacology at Heidelberg University (1977-1980). He is married and has 3 children.
The main focus of his work concentrates on linking basic with clinical research. He is also active in introducing telemedicine techniques to aerospace and terrestric applications. He has published about 200 Manuscripts.
